Introduction
Karen Effinger, MD, is a Pediatric Oncologist at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. She specializes in the late effects of cancer treatment as currently serves as Clinical Operations Director of the Cancer Survivor Program.
Dr. Effinger received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, prior to obtaining her Master of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from Stanford University School of Medicine. She then completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital/ Stanford University.
Research
Dr. Effinger’s research focus is to improve the overall health and quality of life for pediatric cancer survivors through early detection and treatment of late effects.
