Don Mueller, Vice President, Operations, Marcus Autism Center, provides strategic direction for the human, fiscal and capital resources. By collaborating with Children’s and the Marcus Autism Center leadership teams, he helped align the goals of the two not-for-profit organizations in 2008. He continues to identify opportunities to leverage and develop the clinical, research, and teaching resources and capabilities to enhance diagnosing and treating Georgia’s children with autism.

Previously as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Facilities Planning and Development, Mueller helped establish Children’s 10-year Vision 2018 strategy. Building upon Children’s historical clinical successes, Vision 2018 positions Children’s to be a top pediatric hospital in clinical, research, teaching and wellness. Mueller has also overseen the final stages of the largest healthcare facilities expansion project in Georgia—ensuring Children’s will have the facilities necessary to meet the increasing demand for pediatric services.

Mueller joined Children’s as Director of Tertiary Services Contracting in May 2000. Then, he was promoted to Director of Transplant Services—responsible for the solid organ transplant programs, the dialysis unit and the gastrointestinal program. Mueller currently serves on the Board for the Georgia Transplant Foundation and the Georgia Coalition on Donation. In 2005, Mueller was selected by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of Atlanta's Top 40 under 40.

Mueller has worked in healthcare since graduating from The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He received a Master of Business Administration from Loyola College in Maryland. He has worked on the payor side as well as the provider side of healthcare; including roles as staff accountant, managed care business and operations supervisor, healthcare pricing and operations analyst and contract coordinator.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children.
