Rex M. Adams is Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Adams brings nearly 20 years of experience in leadership roles in a variety of industries to this position. As COO, Adams oversees clinical operations of all three Children’s hospitals and 20 neighborhood locations, including the Marcus Autism Center.
Prior to joining Children’s in 2013, Adams served as Chief Operating Officer at CareCentrix, a private equity-owned home health benefits management company providing skilled nursing, medical equipment, infusion, and sleep management for nearly 17 million patients of major managed care insurers. As COO, he was responsible for all operations and technology, including benefit assessment, medical review, utilization management, patient and provider staffing, call center operations, medical claim evaluation and payment, revenue collections, new customer implementations, and all aspects of technology including infrastructure, software development, and technology acquisition. During his time with CareCentrix, Adams improved patient service results by more than 50 percent and reduced costs by 23 percent through technology improvements, workflow management, and detailed metric monitoring
Adams previously spent 12 years with BellSouth. Adams began his career as a consultant at Monitor Company, a strategy consulting firm founded by Harvard Business School professor, Michael Porter.
Adams earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School. He also spent five years in the United States Army. He currently resides in Alpharetta.
