Dr. Patrick Frias Named Chief of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Physician Group
ATLANTA—(April 1, 2013)—Patrick Frias, M.D., has been named Chief, Children’s Physician Group, the senior executive responsible for all physician practices employed or managed by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and for further enhancing Children's relationship with the private practice community.
“Dr. Frias has an exceptional reputation as a cardiologist and leader with Sibley Heart Center, and we are thrilled to have him join our Executive Team,” said Donna Hyland, President and CEO, Children’s.
In his new role, Frias oversees the clinical performance and management of the physician practices, which includes more than 350 physicians and 500 nursing staff, and represents more than 30 pediatric specialties ranging from primary care to the most highly specialized pediatric services. In addition, he is responsible for working with academic partners in the development and execution of Children’s academic mission and research collaborations.
Prior to his role as Chief of the Children’s Physician Group, Frias served as Director of Outpatient Services for Sibley Heart Center Cardiology since 2005. An accomplished, Board-certified cardiologist, he is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Emory School of Medicine. He is a Fellow, American College of Cardiology, Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics and Member, American College of Physician Executives. Frias currently serves as Co-Chair of the American College of Cardiology Coding Task Force and on the American College of Cardiology Adult Congenital and Pediatric Cardiology Advocacy Workgroup.
Frias holds a bachelor’s degree in Theology from Creighton University, and completed medical school at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center before completing his pediatric cardiology and electrophysiology fellowships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
