Caring for Your Child

As part of the hemophilia program, a multidisciplinary team conducts regular clinics at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Service on both the Children's at Egleston and Children's at Scottish Rite campuses. In collaboration with Emory University, pediatric and adult patients are seen in a combined, comprehensive clinic setting at the Children's at Egleston campus in order to facilitate the transition from pediatric to adult care.

Patients and families meet with a combination of the following professionals:

  • Pediatric hematologist (blood specialist)
  • Pediatric orthopaedist (bone specialist)
  • Physical therapist
  • Clinical nurse coordinator
  • Research coordinator
  • Psychologist
  • Social worker
  • Program coordinator

In addition, the following specialists provide support and consultation as needed:

  • Hepatologist (liver specialist)
  • Infectious disease specialist
  • Oral surgeon
  • OB/GYN provider
  • Surgeons
  • Genetic counselor
  • Pediatric dentist
