Caring for Children With NF-1

The Children’s Neurofibromatosis Clinic is committed to treating the conditions and symptoms associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1). NF-1 is a genetic disease causing multiple tumors of nerves. Some other symptoms of NF-1 include:

  • pale tan or light brown birthmarks on the body
  • freckling under the arms or groin region
  • large head size
  • learning disabilities
  • trouble with speech
  • curve of the spine (scoliosis)

At the Children’s Neurofibromatosis Clinic, patients will get to visit a multidisciplinary staff of doctors and nurse practitioners to get all the treatment they need, including:

  • Dermatology
  • Genetics
  • Neuropsychology
  • Psychology
