Many of our teen patients are of driving age and need to relearn basic driving skills.
Our comprehensive program includes a clinical evaluation and behind-the-wheel evaluation performed by a certified driver rehabilitation specialist. We submit a full written report to the patient and referring physician with final recommendations about the patient’s driving status.
Our evaluation process includes:
- Intake interview
- Physical assessment
- Visual assessment
- Cognitive assessment
- Knowledge of road signs and basic safety laws
- In-car assessment, depending on a client’s performance in the above areas
- Recommendations based upon the behind-the-wheel evaluation results
- Recommendations for adaptive driving equipment, if necessary
Education Simulator
Our program now offers a 21st Century Driver's Education simulator to help the rehab process.
Rehabilitation Vehicle
The Driver Rehabilitation vehicle is equipped with an instructor, training brake and adaptive equipment for most disabilities. Additional training with or without the use of adaptive equipment may be performed in the vehicle at the driver rehabilitation specialist’s discretion.
Plan to allow up to three hours for the driver evaluation.
