Access to Care

  • The Children’s transplant teams care for children from birth to age 21
  • We work in conjunction with the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)
  • Once approved as a candidate, children in need of a transplant are listed through the local organ procurement organization (Life Link) on the UNOS waiting list
  • At Children’s, managed care contracts are in place
  • Children’s is easily accessible by an international airport
  • Staff often help coordinate alternative housing options for families (two Ronald McDonald Houses and the Mason House funded by the Mason Trust) during treatment and following discharge
