MYchart

MYchart is Epic’s online portal for patients of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and our MYchart participating practices.

MYchart gives patients and legal guardians the ability to access a portion of a patient's Epic medical record and communicate with their participating care teams from the convenience of an online portal or mobile device. Features include access to many lab and imaging results, secure messaging, and the ability to view upcoming and past medical appointments.

  • For Participating Practices

      How MYchart affects your patients
MYchart allows patients and their legal guardians greater access to their healthcare information. This access equates to more informed patient families which leads to improved satisfaction and outcomes.

      How it affects your practice
Providers and staff experience greater satisfaction from the ability to use the secure messaging feature to efficiently reach out and respond to patients.

The CMS Meaningful Use Quality and Incentive Program requires that patients have the ability to access health information and interact with their healthcare team online. One study shows 90 percent of MYchart‐active patients would recommend their practice, compared with only 50 percent of patients who don’t use MYchart.*

  • For Non-Participating Practices

      How MYchart affects your patients
Parents and guardians of patients who see providers at Children’s and the practices who participate in our electronic medical record will have:

      - Secure online access to their child’s medical records, including:

      - Medical history
      - Many lab and imaging results
      - Medications
      - Upcoming and past appointments

      - The ability to request appointments online
      - The option to exchange messages with their participating ambulatory providers

When test results are available, we will direct patients in MYchart to follow up with their primary care physician or the physician who ordered a test.

      How it affects your practice
If your practice is not participating in the Children’s EMR, your patients and their guardians will not have the option to send you a secure message via MYchart.

If your patient has a MYchart account, he will be able to review results of any lab or radiology tests that you ordered and that were performed at Children's. You should instruct your patients and their guardians to follow up with you with any questions regarding test results.

Providers who use accessCHOA to view patient test results and medical records will still have this capability. After final lab and radiology results become available, providers will have at least three days to review those results before they are automatically released to a patient. Keep in mind:

      - Lab results are released within three days.
      - X-rays are released within three days.
      - Other radiology results (e.g., CT, MRI) are released within seven days.
      - Test results related to sensitive diagnoses, including STD, pregnancy, genetics or suspected abuse, will not be released in MYchart.

Contact your physician liaison with questions.

  • Technical Support

You and your practice should contact the Solution Center at Children's for assistance with questions and technical needs related to MYchart operations.

Children's offers 24/7 support for your patients and their families. The phone number is posted in MYchart in addition to frequently asked questions.
