Our cutting-edge data facility brings together analysts, developers and information architects to manage every application and piece of sensitive digital data at Children’s. 

The IS&T team also works extensively in EPIC, our electronic health record (EHR) system, which Children's was on the forefront of implementing in the Atlanta area.

      IS&T strongly believes in promoting the ongoing learning and development needs of all staff members.

      We encourage employees to seek training that will create growth and development for the benefit of themselves and their teams. 

      Highlights include:

      - In 2013 alone, we approved 129 training requests for 77 employees to attend certification classes, skills-based training, professional development seminars and user group meetings. 

      - IS&T offers an electronic Professional Portfolio, a professional development tool designed to:

      - Help IS&T employees assess strengths and areas for improvement.
      - Illustrate specific areas of expertise.
      - Showcase professional accomplishments during annual
       performance reviews.
      - Establish career goals and plan for future career opportunities.

      -As part of leadership efforts to continually engage the IS&T workforce, IS&T leadership selects approximately 10 employees each year based on recent accomplishments and passion shown for Children’s. These employees form a group of individuals with high potential who have gone above and beyond to show leadership and make a difference in IS&T. Every six to eight weeks through the end of the year, they are invited to meet as a group with the CIO to brainstorm and discuss:

      - How to be more creative and innovative in IS&T
      - How to support the team’s growth and development
      - How to be more effective managers to facilitate a stronger
        IS&T workforce

      -In 2013, Children’s IS&T sent 19 employees to the annual Epic User Group Meeting (UGM) to share industry best practices with their peers and contribute to UGM through focus groups, session discussions and networking events. Each year, approximately 7,600 representatives from client companies attend UGM. 
  • Children's Advantages

      - Although most IS&T employees work at Children’s Office Park or Park North campuses, hospital tours provided by IS&T coworkers on a weekly basis are open to all IS&T employees. Taking a hospital tour helps connect employees to Children’s patients.

      - Each month, IS&T holds a “Meet and Greet” during which employees hired within the past month can meet and mingle with existing employees over a buffet breakfast.
