2013 Champions Tour Event
The PGA Tour recently announced that the Champions Tour is coming back to Atlanta in 2013. The Greater Gwinnett Championship, presented by Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, will be held April 15-21 at TPC Sugarloaf. This 54-hole stroke play tournament will feature 81 Champions Tour professionals competing for a $1.8 million purse. All three rounds of the tournament will be televised nationally by the Golf Channel. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is scheduled to be one of the charities of the event and will receive proceeds from the tournament through the tournament’s organizing body – the Gwinnett Championship Foundation.
Volunteer Fundraising Opportunity
From 1988 to 2008 executives from many companies around Atlanta volunteered their time each winter/spring to help raise funds for Children’s by selling corporate ticket packages, pro-am spots and hospitality to the PGA Tour’s AT&T Classic at TPC Sugarloaf. The Executives for Children's (E4C) campaign generated more than $20 million in its 20-year history.
Children’s is committed to bringing back its E4C fundraising campaign to assist the new Champions Tour tournament. E4C volunteers will help raise funds for Children’s by selling clubhouse badges, corporate ticket packages, pro-am spots and hospitality to the Greater Gwinnett Championship. Weekly clubhouse badges are $100; corporate ticket packages will start at $495; hospitality at $2,400; and pro-am spots at $3,250. E4C volunteers call upon their business contacts in the community asking their companies to consider sponsoring one of the ticket packages to be able to entertain their clients, customers and employees while helping support Children’s. E4C’s will be able to simply email the sponsor packet and order form to their contacts. The tournament office will handle payments and distribution of tickets.
There will be an E4C orientation kickoff lunch in mid-January for all volunteers who have signed on to help followed by a 12-13 weeks sales campaign ending on April 12. Once the E4C campaign starts in January Children’s will manage and coordinate the 12-13 week sales campaign with weekly updates. There will be team and individual prizes in this incentive campaign.
