Ways to Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities in Our Hospitals

Some of the approximately 1,200 hospital volunteers, known as "Friends," work behind the scenes in hospital administrative support. Others assist families and hospital visitors with excellent customer service. Most volunteers have the opportunity to interact with hospital patients every day—rocking babies, helping with schoolwork, delivering videos and books, hosting special events and working in our popular gift shops among their many contributions.

Children's offers many hospital volunteer opportunites for a variety of ages and groups:

  • Adult Volunteers 
    The adult program is for individuals 18 years of age and older who are not currently enrolled in college.
  • College Volunteers 
    Each college program session spans 12 weeks during the fall and spring semesters.
  • VolunTEENS 
    The VolunTEEN program is perfect for high school students ages 15-18 looking for a rewarding way to spend part of their summer.  
  • Young Friends 
    The Young Friends Program for ages 5-14 is a great way for our youngest volunteers to begin their service to Children's.
  • Scout Friends 
    Special program for Boy and Girl Scouts to perform community service as part of our Young Friends or VolunTEENS programs.
  • Neighborhood Locations 
    The Children's neighborhood locations need help, too! Various duties include customer service and administrative tasks.
  • Donations & Activities 
    More of a one-time volunteer opportunity, you can donate much-needed items or host an acitivity in the hospital.
