ATLANTA (May 8, 2017) – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is collaborating with Mercy Care Atlanta to provide on-site pediatric care at the new Mercy Care Chamblee Clinic beginning May 9, 2017. The new clinic has more than tripled Mercy Care's capacity to provide affordable primary care services to adults and expand pediatric services.
"We are honored to bring pediatric services and expanded educational offerings to the new Mercy Care Chamblee clinic," said Donna Hyland, CEO at Children's. "We are dedicated to all children, including those who may not have the resources to get the healthcare that they need. We are thankful that Mercy Care has given Children’s this opportunity to help more kids in the Chamblee area.”
To meet the needs of Atlanta’s growing pediatric community, Children’s pursues affiliations with other organizations that share a similar vision to improve quality and access to pediatric care. Treating nearly 400,000 kids annually, Children’s is committed to making sure that kids throughout Georgia get the care they need, when they need it.
“As the relationship between Mercy Care and Children’s has evolved, we were thrilled to learn that we have so much in common,” said Vivian Lennon, MD, Director of Primary Care at Children’s. “Both are vital community resources, and both have dedicated staff and engaged volunteers. And both of our missions and visions are aligned and focused on providing access to compassionate, patient-centered care.”
Mercy Care, which provides medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health-related services to homeless and impoverished patients, will now have access to Children’s physicians, staff and pediatric expertise.
The new clinic, one of Mercy Care’s 13 clinics across Atlanta, will expand services to include optometry, ultrasound, radiology, integrated behavioral health and a variety of health education programs. Strategically located on Peachtree Road adjacent to MARTA and Walmart, the clinic will feature a unique health education program to address lifestyle changes, including family health promotion, diabetes management, obesity, nutrition and healthy cooking classes, and perinatal education.
