Feed the Heart

For our patients who are hospitalized on our cardiac units, the wait time for treatment and/or a transplant can be days, weeks or even months. For families, staying at the hospital with a loved one can often mean periods of stress, financial worry and concern for the entire family.

To meet the needs of our patients and their families, cardiac staff members serving on the Patient Family Advisory Council and parents serving on the Cardiac Family Advisory Council have created Feed the Heart, a volunteer based initiative designed to provide meals for cardiac patients and their families during hospital stays.

Contact feedtheheart@choa.org to learn more about Feed the Heart or to schedule a dinner or pantry drop-off.

Dinner schedule

Feed the Heart provides dinner once a week to our cardiac families staying on our cardiac units and meals are distributed from the conference room in the cardiac stepdown unit (CSU).

Feed the Heart pantry

The Feed the Heart Food Pantry is also available to families throughout their stay on our cardiac units. The pantry provides drinks, snacks and non-perishable food items that families can access throughout the day. Please note that all food items must be store-bought, within expiration date, individually packaged and non-perishable.
