For our patients who are hospitalized at the cardiac step-down unit (CSU), the wait time for treatment and/or a transplant can be days, weeks or even months. For families, staying at the hospital with a loved one can often mean periods of stress, financial worry and concern for the entire family.
To meet the needs of our patients and their families, CSU staff members serving on the Patient Family Advisory Council and parents serving on the Cardiac Family Advisory Council have created Feed the Heart, a volunteer based initiative designed to provide meals for cardiac patients and their families during hospital stays.
Contact email@example.com to learn more about Feed the Heart or to schedule a dinner or pantry drop-off.
Feed the Heart provides dinner once a week to our cardiac families staying in the CSU and meals are distributed from our conference room.
Feed the Heart pantry
The Feed the Heart Food Pantry is also available to families throughout their stay in the CSU. The pantry provides drinks, snacks and non-perishable food items that families can access throughout the day. Please note that all food items must be store-bought, within expiration date, individually packaged and non-perishable.
Ways to help
Since its inception in 2015, the Feed the Heart program has served meals to more than 3,000 people. Because of Feed the Heart, families do not have to worry about food and can focus on caring for their child.
