Annie was diagnosed with the flu on a Thursday. On Sunday, we went to the emergency room at Scottish Rite, where the doctors admitted her for dehydration and pneumonia. By Monday, she had developed an infection, was transferred to the PICU and was intubated.
Doctors discovered two additional infections as she fought for her life. The breathing tube stayed in for nine days until she decided it was time to come out and pulled it out herself. After 26 days in the hospital, Annie was well enough to come home.
We will forever be indebted to the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, child life specialists and other staff at Scottish Rite.
We are so thankful for CHOA!
