Introduction
Benjamin Toole, MD, joined the Children's Heart Center team in 2014 and is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. A native Georgian, he was raised in Hiram, GA. He attended undergrad at Mercer University in Macon and then moved to Augusta to attend medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. Following medical school, he moved to Birmingham where he completed a three-year pediatric residency at UAB and stayed a fourth year after being chosen to serve as Chief Resident, Dr. Toole and his family then matriculated to Houston, where he completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, where he served as chief fellow during his 3rd year. He was excited to have the opportunity to return home to Georgia when he came to Atlanta to complete a fourth year fellowship in non-Invasive imaging, with a focus on fetal echocardiography. Following the completion of his fourth year, Dr. Toole joined the Heart Center and became the primary cardiologist for Albany and southwest Georgia. He has since also helped open Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Cardiology sites in Valdosta and Thomasville.
Dr. Toole's passion is helping care for the children of Georgia and is grateful to have the opportunity to help bring excellent cardiology care closer to the people of central and southern Georgia. His clinical interests include patients with complex congenital heart disease, echocardiography and the prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease through fetal echo.
