Introduction
Nick Ettinger, MD, PhD, is a Critical Care Medicine Physician at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and serves as Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Ettinger earned his medical degree and completed his PhD studies at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he concentrated in immunology and genetics of resistance to Leishmania chagasi infection. He completed both his residency and fellowship training at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Ettinger is a passionate academic and clinician educator who currently serves as the Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program Director. His focus revolves around educating trainees at all levels, providing excellent care to critically ill children, and enhancing and improving patient safety in the ICU. As a former US Peace Corps volunteer, Dr. Ettinger has a long-term interest in global health, specifically in pediatric critical care capacity development, education and training to improve acute recognition, and early intervention skills for the care of severely ill hospitalized children in resource limited settings.
