Children’s at Hughes Spalding Earns 5-Star Energy Award
On June 19, the Engineering department at Children’s at Hughes Spalding earned the Camfil Farr 5-Star Energy Award for using the highest-end filtration system available. The filters they utilize are LEED compliant, like the rest of the hospital, resulting in some of the cleanest air in the city.
“We do our best and take pride in patient and customer satisfaction and enhancing the environment is what Children’s strides for,” says Ben Yancey, Engineering Manager, who accepted the award on behalf of the Engineering Department. He implemented the filters two years ago.
Armando Brunetti, President of Camfil Farr USA, stated, “This is evidence of Children’s long-term commitment to providing clean indoor air for your employees and contributing to today’s green effort to conserve energy and reduce waste.”
Joey Chapman of Thermal Recovery Systems presented the award to Ben and said Children’s is meeting and exceeding expectations in the filter and energy worlds. “This is something Ben needed to be recognized for,” Joey says. “Often, people don’t realize when someone has taken an extra step. The bottom line is that Children’s should have some of highest quality air in city—they’ve taken every step to ensure it.”
In addition to complimenting Ben on his green efforts, Joey sings Ben’s praises as a employee. “Ben is such a great guy,” he says. “He gets here at 5:30 a.m. every morning and walks around to shake everyone’s hand to see how they’re doing. He’s a top notch guy and it’s a pleasure to do business with him."
