Big Show for Little Voices Raises More Than $250,000 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
ATLANTA (October 5, 2012) – Last Wednesday through Friday, dave-fm listeners seized the opportunity to meet and help patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta during the second annual dave-fm Big Show for Little Voices Radiothon, presented by Foresters. At the conclusion of Friday’s broadcast, dave-fm’s personalities celebrated the fundraising total of $251,785. Benefiting Children’s Miracle Network, the Radiothon locally supports Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a not-for-profit pediatric health care system.
Some highlights from the 36-hour broadcast:
- Throughout the Radiothon, donors met all of the matching hours, which included: two $5,000 matches by Foresters and a $10,000 match from the Rece Family.
- NBA veteran Steve Smith joined the Radiothon on Wednesday, lending his support and encouragement. Native Georgian singer and entertainer Monica also called in during the broadcast to share her personal experience at Children’s with V103’s Ryan Cameron.
- Dave-fm sister stations V-103 and 1380/WAOK-AM aired the Radiothon on Wednesday, helping it reach more listeners than ever.
- More than 300 volunteers answered calls of support in the phone bank during the Radiothon.
Although dave-fm has now changed format and is no longer in existence, Children’s is grateful for the enthusiasm of the talent to raise funds during their last week on the radio. Tax-deductible donations to the radiothon are still being accepted at https://giving.choa.org/radiothon.
