Adaptive Sports Program

Helping Young Athletes with Disabilities Lead Active Lives

Adaptive SportsKids benefit from sports in a variety of ways, from staying healthy and active to learning teamwork and self-discipline. We believe children, adolescents and teens with disabilities deserve a chance to compete like any other young athlete.

Collaborative Team Approach

Our Adaptive Sports Program is led by a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to helping children and teens with disabilities find a sport they love and can play safely. Through the collaboration of our Sports MedicineOrthotics and Prosthetics and Rehabilitation programs, our team works together to provide children with disabilities access to and information about adaptive sports.

Members of our Orthotics and Prosthetics team can design and assist with the technology needed for adaptive sports. Our Rehabilitation Services and Sports Medicine teams can help children with varying disabilities find the right adaptive sport and get them in the game. Adaptive sports are an integral part of our Inpatient and Day Rehabilitation programs.

Treatment and Special Events

We can also help get injured adaptive athletes back to the sport they love. Our focus is to treat young athletes with special needs and keep them active. We offer these patients the chance to be active and have fun with others like them through Children's camps

Adaptive sports are available at all levels of play, all the way up to the elite level of the Paralympic Games, for a variety of disabilities. Like any other sport, adaptive sports are competitive, exciting and fulfilling.
