2016 Conference Information

The Stephanie V. Blank Center for Safe and Healthy Children is proud to announce that we will be partnering with Prevent Child Abuse Georgia to bring you the Georgia Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect: Prevention to Intervention.

Our 2016 Keynote Speaker will be Dr. David Finkelhor, a preeminent violence epidemiologist. Dr. Finkelhor is the Director of the Crimes against Children Research Center, Co-Director of the Family Research Laboratory and Professor of Sociology at the University of New Hampshire. He is editor and author of 11 books and over 150 journal articles and book chapters. Some of his best-known publications include, "Sourcebook on Child Sexual Abuse" and "Nursery Crimes." Dr. Finkelhor has been studying the problems of child maltreatment and child victimization since 1977, and his publications are among the most influential in areas related to child abuse and neglect.

Call for Presentations

We are expecting 300 participants from child and family serving organizations across Georgia. We are looking for a wide scope of topics and presenters for content relating to the following:
Prevention of child abuse and neglect
Assessment and treatment of child abuse victims
Management and investigation of child maltreatment cases
Contributions to the healthy development of children

There is no cost to attend this conference. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. Meals, parking, and conference materials are included with registration. Continuing education will be provided for various relevant disciplines.
