Daycare Providers

Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning along with the Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies of Georgia offer services to assist with providing quality child care to all children, including children with diabetes. This service is the Inclusion Program and is staffed with Inclusion Coordinators who serve every county in Georgia. You can locate Inclusion resources by accessing the Bright from the Start website by clicking here.

The rules and regulations governing Georgia child care currently stipulate that only licensed professionals may administer insulin to children with diabetes in out-of-home child care. Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is the department that enforces these rules and regulations.

However, Bright from the Start can grant providers variances to these specific rules and regulations in regard to diabetes management. Please contact your county Inclusion Coordinator and request the Bright from the Start Policy for Diabetes Management to learn how a daycare center can apply for this variance. (Policies for Diabetes Management by Providers.)
