The Southeastern Regional Center of Excellence for 22q11 Deletion Syndrome (22q Center) fosters clinical and research collaboration among doctors and specialists in this field. These experts come from two of the Southeast’s leading medical institutions, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine.

Major League pitcher Ryan Dempster visited 22q patients at Children’s on July 3, 2012. Children’s opened a new 22q Clinic in August  2012, which was partially funded through a grant from the Dempster Family Foundation.
