The Children's Epilepsy Center

Epilepsy
High Quality Medical and Surgical Evaluation and Treatment of Kids

The Children's Epilepsy Center is recognized by the NAEC as a Level 4 epilepsy center. Level 4 epilepsy centers have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy.

Unlike adults, children and adolescents with seizure disorders undergo treatment during critical stages of their development. All the neurologists at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta recognize and treat the special needs of infants, children and adolescents with epilepsy (also known as a seizure disorder).

The Children’s Epilepsy Center specializes in diagnosis and treatment of children with difficult to control epilepsy (also known as Refractory or Intractable Epilepsy). The physicians in the Center have completed extra certifications and training for epilepsy. Advanced technology is available to help control epileptic seizures with minimal side effects, utilizing medical, surgical and Ketogenic Diet based on the individual needs of the child.

With the medical and surgical advances available today, most children with epilepsy are capable of remarkable physical recovery.
