Pediatric Center for Head to Toe Care

The Children’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Program addresses the needs of children and teenagers with conditions that require orthotic or prosthetic intervention, including traumatic brain injury, burns, neurological disorders, limb deficiency and limb sparing, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis and plagiocephaly.

  • Cranial Remolding Program—offers solutions for infants diagnosed with plagiocephaly or brachycephaly.
  • Limb Deficiency Program—addresses the medical, therapeutic and emotional needs of children with congenital or acquired upper- and lower- extremity limb deficiencies.
  • Orthopaedics—offers comprehensive services from a multidisciplinary team that includes orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and certified athletic trainers.
  • Rehabilitation—offers a wide range of services to assist patients and their families throughout their recovery. 
  • Adaptive Sports—helps children and teens with disabilities find sports they enjoy and can play safely.
  • McKeever's First Ride—an introduction to therapeutic horseback riding and carriage driving designed to give children and adults that use orthotic and prosthetic assistance exposure to the healing spirit of the horse.
  • Camp No Limb-itations—an opportunity for children with limb deficiencies to meet children with similar conditions during a family-centered weekend filled with activities. 
  • "Intelligent Hands"—an active, electronic prosthesis that lets patients grasp and move objects with fully articulating fingers.

    Colleen Coulter, Physical Therapist for Orthotics and Prosthetics, received the "Bud" DeHaven Award for outstanding service to the Section on Pediatrics at last week's combined sections meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). The “Bud” DeHaven Award was created in 1977 to recognize a physical therapist for extraordinary service to the Section on Pediatrics. This is the highest honor given by the Section on Pediatrics.
