Nurses at Children’s consistently receive awards and recognition. Here are a few examples:
In September 2011, the Emergency Nurses Association announced Children’s at Scottish Rite as one of 20 inaugural Lantern Award winners. Children’s was the only Georgia hospital to receive the award, which honors emergency departments exemplifying exceptional and innovative performance in the core areas of leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.
This award recognizes the great work nurses do every day, and raises awareness of the importance of nursing to the treatment and care of those who are critically ill. The award is given in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by the DAISY Foundation for the elimination of Diseases Attacking the Immune System. Each month, two DAISY Awards may be given to a nurse at Children’s who works collaboratively with others; serves as a role model for the nursing profession; communicates clearly and effectively with all co-workers and patients; makes a special connection with a patient/family and makes a significant difference in the life of a patient. To nominate a nurse to receive the DAISY Award, complete this form and submit it to DAISYAward@choa.org.
Golden Apple Awards
Children’s health educators created the annual Golden Apple Awards Program to help celebrate extraordinary accomplishments in health education. Staff within each department submits one outstanding employee or project to be considered for the award.
