Med/Surg patient care areas at Children's include:
Pediatric endocrinologists treat children with endocrine disorders and hormonal problems, including diabetes.
Children’s is home to one of the leading pediatric gastrointestinal programs in the Southeast. We treat both common and complex childhood gastrointestinal (GI) problems including bowel disease, swallowing disorders and ulcerative colitis.
Children’s is in the business of meeting all the needs of children, whether it is a bad scrape on the knee or a high acuity disorder. Our general pediatrics services allow us to reach out into the community to care for the lower acuity needs of children and get them back on the playground as soon as we can.
Children’s has many observation beds that allow us to care for children without the necessity of being admitted. These beds are typically used by our respiratory disorder patients, but are accessed for many other needs as well.
Neurological disorders can be the most challenging diagnoses for both patients and their families. At Children's, we offer several programs for the comprehensive diagnosis and management of neurological disorders.
For a child with a breathing disorder, the simple act of taking a breath can feel overwhelming. Children’s cares for children of all ages with respiratory problems, such as asthma, bronchiolitis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, persistent cough, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, and pneumonia. Our respiratory services program includes a multidisciplinary team of pulmonologists, nutritionists, respiratory care therapists and pharmacists.
We care for infants, children and adolescents. Our pediatric surgical team is experienced in caring for the wide variety of medical issues children may have, ranging from hernias or appendicitis to cancer or serious congenital anomalies.
