Dare to Dash 5K & Family Fun Day (formerly All Aboard for a Cure) has taken place in Historic Norcross since its inception in 2008.  The Dare to Dash 5K & Family Fun Day has added a 5K chip-timed run in addition to an approximate 2K awareness walk and family fun day.  The fun will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013!

The day begins with a gathering in Thrasher Park where runners and teams register and pick up their t-shirts starting at 7:00AM.  We will have entertainment before the walk consisting of music and usually a dance team or cheerleaders from one of the local universities.

5K runners will line up on North Peachtree and begin the chip-timed race at 8:00AM.

Walkers and “fun run” participants will assemble on Buchanan Street to begin the walk at 8:45AM from the same starting area.

Participants will then enjoy the “Family Fun Day” in Thrasher Park including entertainment, food, children’s activities and games, a raffle and a silent auction, from approximately 10:00AM (or as soon as they return from the walk) until Noon.  All activities and food are included in the registration fee.   Activities will include an inflatable bounce house, carnival games, raffle and silent auction.

At noon, our activities will end in Thrasher Park and the activities will begin in Lillian Webb Park.  The City of Norcross is partnering with Dare to Dash and planning a concert at approximately 1:00PM, children’s activities all afternoon, food and drink sales, and a family-friendly movie in the park at dusk.  All proceeds from the events in Lillian Webb Park by the City of Norcross will also go to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and The Ainsley Paige Higgins’ Dare to Hope Foundation.  We hope this partnership will inspire people to enjoy the activities with their families and  encourage community goodwill as any money that they spend will be donated to a good cause.

The Dare to Dash 5K & Family Fun Day 2013 event will focus on:  (1) to raise money for The Ainsley Paige Higgins’ Dare to Hope Foundation and the palliative care team at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta; (2) to raise awareness of children with complex and chronic diseases in the general population, as well as palliative care options; and, (3) to provide a fun family day for medically fragile children and their families, supporter of The City of Norcross, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Dare to Hope supporters.
