girlFriends, a volunteer group of ninth to twelfth grade high school girls, is dedicated to fundraising throughout the school year for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. girlFriends supports Children's through membership, volunteer opportunities, fundraising events and special service projects at our hospital campuses. Each year, girlFriends' participates in a variety of events and service activities, such as:
- girlFriends’ Battle of the Bands
- Children’s Christmas Parade
- Miracle Challenge
- Mailbox Brigade
The student-run leadership board is made up of representatives from high schools throughout the greater Atlanta area who are selected based on an application and interview process. Students serve year-long terms under the supervision of adult volunteers and hospital representatives.

girlFriends hosts monthly general membership meetings with nearly 100 girls in attendance each meeting. During these meetings, students have the opportunity to hear from Children's patients, staff and other informative speakers. In addition to speakers, monthly meetings include activities such as fashion shows, fitness classes, special holiday activities and toy, clothing and toiletry drives.
