Introduction
Keiko Tarquinio, MD, is a Critical Care Medicine Physician at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Prior to joining Children’s, Dr. Tarquinio was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Hasbro Children’s Hospital/Brown University in Providence, R.I.
Dr. Tarquinio currently serves as a site principal investigator for the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) Network and is leading multi-center studies such as the National Emergency Airway Registry for Children (NEAR4KIDS), Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness for Preventing Laboratory-Confirmed severe Influenza Associated Illness (PICFLU-VE) and Understanding Coronavirus 2019 Disease in US Children (Overcoming COVID-19 studies), Pediatric Intensive Care Influenza Network (PICFLU) and Catheter-Related Early Thromboprophylaxis with Enoxaparin (CRETE) studies. She is also involved in Capstone Projects over 5 years supervising biomedical engineering projects to fill the gap between clinical needs with GA Tech BME students.
Dr. Tarquinio’s research interests include the antimicrobial effect on medical devices (nanotechnology and assessment of medical biofilm) and the airway microbiome.
