Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is proud to be a partner of the 2013 AJC Peachtree Jr which provides a positive example of what it means to get active and be Strong4Life! In 2011, Children’s launched Strong4Life, a statewide effort to help families in Georgia take simple steps to improve their health and combat the rising trend of childhood obesity.
Georgia has the second highest childhood obesity rate in the country and nearly 40% of Georgia's children are overweight or obese? Children who are overweight are now suffering from diseases once seen only in adults, such as hypertension, liver and kidney disease and Type 2 diabetes.
Strong4Life includes the largest public awareness campaign on childhood obesity and wellness to ever hit Georgia, along with programs, partnerships and clinical intervention to help and support kids when and where they need it. Thousands of kids and families are participating in Strong4Life school, provider, early childcare, and summer camp programs and we’re making an tremendous impact in their lives.
But we can’t do it alone. We need your help! To help fellow Georgians become Strong4Life, we’re asking you to make a financial pledge to help Children’s in our efforts to fight childhood obesity. Simply click here which will take you to a Children’s donation web page.
