As an athletic trainer or coach, you need to be ready for a variety of situations. Having the proper materials in your kit is the first step. As you gain more experience, you will be able to fine tune what you include, but here is a good starting point:

First aid

  • Antacids

  • Blood pressure cuff
  • Contact case/saline
  • CPR mask
  • Epinephrine auto-injector
  • Exoclear wrap
  • Eye wash saline
  • Ice bags (non-chemical)

Serious injuries

    • Resuscitator bag and mask or face shield for rescue breathing
    • Scissors to cut clothes
    • Towel to dry chest
  • Communication device (cell phone, walkie-talkie, land line)
  • Ice tub prefilled during high-heat index season
  • Keys for any locks you may need to open
  • Splints, back board
  • Stretcher/gurney/wheelchair
