What We Treat

“Enteral feeding” means delivering nutrients directly into a patient’s gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This can be done orally or through a feeding tube.

Our Integrated Enteral Feeds Advancement Team (IEAT) is a multidisciplinary clinic for children with feeding tubes who may eventually be able to take most of their nutrition by mouth.

Our doctors work with each patient to observe his eating behavior, watch parent-child interaction and make referrals to other feeding programs, if needed. Our doctors can also give advice about developmental eating and feeding stages, such as how to introduce new foods.

Services We Offer

IEAT Clinic services include:

  • Maintenance of proper growth velocity
  • Development of age-appropriate formula (liquid nutritional supplements based on a child’s age and nutritional needs)
  • Gastrostomy tube (G-tube) management (these are tubes that are inserted into a child’s stomach to provide nutrition to a child who is unable to get proper nutrition using his mouth)
  • Medical GI care, including the management of reflux medication and specialty formulas
  • Full nutritional assessment and treatment, if needed, for issues such as vitamin deficiency
  • Consultation with a behavioral psychologist, if needed
  • Specialized tests for swallowing, if necessary
