Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Named to List of '100 Best Places to Work in IT'

ATLANTA (June 23, 2020) – IDG’s Insider Pro and Computerworld revealed today Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was named a 2020 Best Places to Work in IT. Inclusion on this list signals Children’s as one of 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation.

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by Insider Pro and Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, IDG conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.

“Our IS&T department has one of the most important jobs at Children’s—keeping our technology up to date and running smoothly,” said Jeremy Meller, Chief Information Officer at Children’s. “Whether it’s upgrading our electronic lab system or the maintaining the workstations physicians use to document patient information at the hospitals, our IS&T team is behind the scenes making sure everything is operating as it should, so we can make kids better.”

The cutting-edge data facility at Children’s brings together analysts, developers and information architects to manage every application and piece of sensitive digital data in order to protect patients’ health information. The IS&T team also works extensively in Epic, an electronic health record system that Children's was on the forefront of implementing in the Atlanta area.

Additionally, the IS&T team at Children’s—under the guidance of Allana Cummings, Chief Information Officer at Children’s from 2014 until her recent retirement—led the implementation of a technology overhaul for the organization’s administrative division in 2019. Their efforts help Children’s use less paper with the help of technology enhancements for employees, including the latest software, document scanning and storage, and a new employee mobile app to stay collaborative and connected.

“Allana’s expertise in the field has enabled many successes that have helped us reach new heights in care delivery and patient experience,” said Donna Hyland, CEO of Children's. “We are a better organization because of Allana's vision, commitment and passion for our Mission. We are forever grateful to Allana for all she has done for Children's.”

“As technology continues to evolve more rapidly than ever, attracting and retaining top IT talent to research, deploy and maintain that technology has never been more important or more challenging,” said Mark Lewis, VP of Audience Development at IDG’s Insider Pro. “Companies that have earned a spot on the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2020 'Best Place to Work in IT' list share a common denominator: They create an environment that not only rewards workers with competitive compensation and benefits, but they also foster a spirit of diversity, social responsibility, training and innovation.”
