Introduction

Heather Viamonte, MD, is a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Heart Center and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. She cares for children in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) as well as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

In addition to her role as a cardiac intensivist, Dr. Viamonte currently serves as the Director of Cardiac ECMO where she helps lead and implement quality improvement and educational interventions for the ECMO program. She was integral in starting a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, longitudinal follow-up program for ECMO survivors.

Dr. Viamonte’s true passion lies with global health. She is deeply invested in projects in Haiti and Tanzania. In her spare time, Dr. Viamonte enjoys writing. She is a published author of three novels.
