Introduction
James Crownover, MD, a board-certified Pediatric Sports Medicine Primary Care Physician at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, grew up in Gwinnett County and attended college at the University of Georgia. Following his undergrad studies, Dr. Crownover earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He then completed his residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Following his residency, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Prior to joining Children’s, Dr. Crownover worked at Augusta University Orthopedics and Sports Medicine where he served as the Assistant Program Director of their primary care sports medicine fellowship program and contributed to the establishment of their musculoskeletal ultrasound and sports concussion programs. While in Augusta, Dr. Crownover also helped provide medical coverage for Augusta University athletes and served as the co-medical director of Richmond County High Schools.
In his spare time, Dr. Crownover, enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two young kids. He and his wife are happy to be in the greater Atlanta area where they both grew up.
