Reconsidering Neglect: How a Thoughtful Assessment, Diagnosis and Management Can Change Outcomes

In this lecture, Dr. Peña will describe the various types of neglect based on medical and legal definitions. Additionally, he will expand on epidemiology, risk factors based on age, and objective ways to diagnose this complex entity. Dr. Peña will also present on the spectrum of nutritional neglect as the basis for covering key aspects needed in the documentation of neglect cases, which will assist the professional in developing an awareness of best practice guidelines and determine a threshold for reporting to the Department of Children and Families.
