Strong4Life Programs

Our clinical treatment programs at Strong4Life help kids struggling with their weight get on a healthy track with lots of support.

The Strong4Life Clinic is a family-based, integrated medical approach created specifically for kids struggling with weight issues. Our team of doctors, nutritionists, psychologists and exercise physiologists at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta work with kids and their families to create achievable, personalized lifestyle goals—complete with medical assessments, mental health and support, as well as nutrition and activity evaluations.

The Strong4Life Clinic also provides a comprehensive bariatric surgery program. The program requires a minimum of six consecutive monthly visits, participation in our support groups and lifestyle changes.

All clinic patients require a referral from the child’s doctor to start the program. Referral information should include:

  • Most recent clinic notes
  • Most recent lab work results
  • Growth charts
  • Patient demographics
  • Contact information

To make a referral, fax the above information to 404-785-9111. Once we receive the documentation, we’ll send the family a new patient packet, welcoming them to the Strong4Life Clinic.

To refer a patient to the Strong4Life Clinic Bariatric Program, the patient must have the following criteria:

  • Body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 35, or 135% of the 95th percentile, whichever is lower.
  • Body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 40, or 140% of the 95th percentile, whichever is lower.

Call 404-785-KIDS (5437) for more information.

For kids 8 to 12 years old who are above a healthy weight (BMI greater than the 85th percentile), Camp Strong4Life provides a unique opportunity to help jump-start a healthier future through a traditional summer camp experience. In a real outdoor camp setting, our fully trained staff teaches kids the basics of getting healthy with a range of activities that inspire lifestyle changes and family involvement. Plus, camp gives children the support they need to start a lifetime of making healthy choices.
