Introduction

Zahidee Rodriguez, MD, graduated from the University of Georgia and went on to complete her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine. There, she had developed an interest in global health, practicing medicine in Honduras and Haiti and later joined the Global Health Track during her pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where she practiced pediatric medicine in a Navajo reservation, Malawi, and Puerto Rico. Dr. Rodriguez completed a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Stanford Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and now cares for children with congenital heart disease in the intensive care unit. Dr. Rodriguez’s primary clinical/scholarly focus is in neonatal cardiac surgery associated acute kidney injury and neonatal outcomes following surgery for congenital heart disease. Outside of work, Dr. Rodriguez enjoys spending time with her family, cooking with her husband and playing with her two daughters.
