At Children's, we understand the teenage years can be a difficult time. In the journey to becoming a young adult, teens must learn to depend less on their parents and take control over their own healthcare needs. The Second Chance Teen Retreat is designed to bring transplant teens and young adults together with their peers and mentors in a fun, relaxed atmosphere to enlighten, empower and motivate them.
Held at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, Ga, this overnight weekend getaway is for teens and young adults, ages 13 to 20, who receive dialysis or have received an organ transplant.
The weekend retreat will consist of:
- Fun camp activities such as a bonfire and s'mores, arts and crafts, archery, fishing, biking, boating and more
- Team building activities such as the high ropes course, a team challenge course, zipline and climbing tower
- Interactive and informative sessions that help teens learn and prepare for the transition to adulthood
