About Hughes Spalding Hospital
With deep roots of caring for families in Atlanta, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Hughes Spalding Hospital opened in 1952 as Hughes Spalding Pavilion. The Hughes Spalding Pavilion provided medical care for African American adults and children. In 1983, Hughes Spalding Pavilion expanded its facilities and began to specialize in pediatric care, eventually changing its name to Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital. Children’s began operating Hughes Spalding Hospital in February 2006 in order to streamline pediatric healthcare throughout metro Atlanta.
As part of Children’s, Hughes Spalding continues its legacy of care, managing more than 90,000 patients annually and offering patients access to more than 2,000 physicians and more than 60 pediatric specialties. Some of the programs and services offered at Hughes Spalding include the Asthma Clinic, Primary Care Clinic, Sickle Cell Disease Clinic, Adolescent Medicine Clinic and an Emergency Department.
Hughes Spalding is an invaluable resource to Atlanta and beyond, and support from the community helps us continue to give patients the quality care they deserve.
