Kristy Murray, DVM, PhD

Kristy Murray serves as Chief Research Officer for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. In her role, Dr. Murray leads the Children’s and Emory pediatric research enterprise and plays an important role in the integration of clinical, research and teaching endeavors for both institutions. She also plays a critical role in facilitating research for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Technology Center at Georgia Tech (PTC) and Morehouse School of Medicine.

Dr. Murray comes to Children’s and Emory from Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital where she was Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Pediatrics, Director of the William T. Schearer Center for Human Biology, Assistant Dean for Faculty and Academic Development for the School of Tropical Medicine and Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular Virology and Microbiology. She has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on infectious diseases.

Dr. Murray earned a PhD in Preventive Medicine and Community Health from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB); a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Texas A&M University; and two Bachelor of Science degrees—one in Veterinary Science and the other in Biomedical Science—from Texas A&M University.
